About the author

Albert Edelfelt (1854–1905) - a renowned Finnish painter and one of the most important representatives of 19th-century Finnish art. His work is distinguished by its realistic style, subtle rendering of light, and meticulously depicted details.

Edelfelt was known for his portraits, historical scenes, and depictions of Finnish nature and everyday life. The Paris art scene had a major influence on his work, but he maintained a strong connection to Finnish culture and national identity.

The artist’s work contributed to the international recognition of Finnish art and became an important part of the country’s cultural heritage.
