About the author

Romans Suta (1896–1944) – one of Latvia’s most prominent modernist artists, graphic artist, and stage designer.

His work reflects the influence of Cubism, Constructivism, and Art Deco, while his works stand out for their bold compositions and modern artistic language. Suta was also active in porcelain design and made a significant contribution to the development of applied art in Latvia.

His artistic legacy is still considered an important part of Latvia’s 20th-century art.
